Long ago, this country also had government-sanctioned prostitution facilities. "Suzaki" was a red-light district on par with Yoshiwara and Shinagawa. Set in the Suzaki red-light district of the Showa era, this original erotic drama by director Rintaro Ise meticulously depicts the sensual games and poignant inner conflicts of three unfortunate prostitutes: Oshu (Kyoko Kazama), the daughter of a poor family from Tsugaru who was sold into prostitution; Chozan (Mari Aoi), a mature prostitute; and the madam of the brothel (Ruki Misato).
